I’m researching book publishing costs and trying to understand the realistic budget needed to publish a book today. What are the main expenses editing, book cover design, formatting, ISBN, printing, and marketing?

Also, is self-publishing cheaper than going with a traditional publisher, or does it end up costing more in the long run?

If anyone has recently published a book, please share your cost breakdown and experience.
