As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night will not cease. – Genesis 8:22

I must admit that during our years in upstate New York, sitting in my living room wearing a sweatshirt, fleece, and stocking cap, global warming seemed a little incredible. Granted, I am certainly no scientist and the issues are significantly more complex than the temperature in my house, but doesn't warm-ING usually imply warm-ER?

One very important fact influences my thoughts on this subject. I believe that God's Word has been proven and will be proven true for all eternity, and in spite of all the predictions to the contrary, cold, and hot will never cease. Though it may be colder or hotter where you happen to live, our Sovereign God will keep it all going (no matter our involvement) until He chooses to bring this world to His purposed end.

Should we be good stewards/managers of this earth that God has given us to inhabit? Absolutely. Should we be environmentally conscious? No doubt. Should we teach such principles as part of God's discipling intent for others? Indeed, but perhaps we should leave it there.

Now, where is my coat?

The 20th century warming of 1-1.4°F is within the +/- 5°F range of the past 3,000 years. – Arthur B. Robinson, PhD, et al., "Environmental Effects of Increased Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide," Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons, Fall 2007
