And because of the cloud, the priests were not able to continue ministering, for the glory of Yahweh filled God’s temple. - 2 Chronicles 5:14

After all the work and preparation of the Temple in Jerusalem, God's presence (He never left) was manifest in the form of an all-enveloping cloud. This "fog" was so powerful in fact that everything (all activity) stopped. No one moved. Priestly service somehow became unnecessary and insufficient.
We all, like the Temple priests, live in the presence of God, yet we are not always aware of it. Did the priests, bustling around "doing" the work of God, need a reminder? If so, do we? Much will occur for the cause of Christ today, but I wonder how much of it will be done with any thought to His abiding presence, and if, in His presence, we should actually do anything.
We should never be surprised, but of course we always will be, when God chooses to remind us that He is here.
People nowadays take time far more seriously than eternity. - Thomas Kelly
