He Knows

But Jesus on His part did not entrust Himself to them, because He knew all people and needed no one to bear witness about man, for He Himself knew what was in man. - John 2:24-25

When people saw the miracles that Jesus performed, they began to follow him in ever-increasing numbers. Some were amazed by His power, some wanted a free lunch, and still others considered the possibility that there might be more to come.

The dictionary defines "popularity" as "commonly liked or approved." Jesus was indeed popular, but He wasn't fooled by the empty praise He was receiving. He knew the heart of every single individual who followed him.

Jesus even knows why you and I follow Him today. He knows the true nature of our hearts and so there is simply no use in pretending. Are we in it for His glory or for our benefit alone?

He knows.
