Just Too Busy

While Saul spoke to the priest, the panic in the Philistine camp increased in intensity. So Saul said to the priest, "Stop what you are doing." - 1 Samuel 14:19

Are you pretty busy these days? How busy are you? What defines "too busy?"
As God was using Jonathan and his armor bearer to rout the Philistine army, Saul was calling for the priest to bring forth the ark of the covenant. We may presume that he wanted to seek God's counsel about joining the fight. Yet, when Saul heard the noise of panic among the Philistines, he told the priest to basically "forget it" and led his men into battle, finishing what his son had started.
This was a good thing, right? Well, maybe not. Subsequent events seem to indicate that Saul actually lacked God's wisdom. It seems that Saul's attention was focused on the fight and not on the Lord.
Even though we might not like to admit it, we sometimes (like Saul) think that we don't have the time to consult our Sovereign. It could be that we're already in the throes of the "battle" or on the verge of a big decision, or perhaps it just seems foolish to slow down.
It is never too late and we should never be too busy to obtain God's guidance. If we're too busy for Him, then we're just too busy!
