Now, grant me wisdom and knowledge so that I may lead these people, for who can judge this great people of Yours? - 2 Chronicles 1:10

God said, "Solomon, ask. 'What should I give you?'" If the Creator of the universe asked you the same question, how do you think you would respond?

As with Solomon (the future king of Israel), the answer to such a question (from God) just might indicate a person's present and future ability to lead. You see, most leaders can't handle the responsibility their position demands. All the preparation in the world is painfully inadequate for the varied situations or crises a leader may confront; therefore, what is the one critical factor?

With the Bible as a guide, we can come to the conclusion that the most critical factor in successful leadership is whether or not the leader possesses wisdom that comes from God, and this is why those who follow Christ are best equipped to do so.

Yes, skill and experience matter, but they matter less if a leader is not first led by God.

If whatever men know comes through their brain without the Holy Spirit regenerating their spirit, then their knowledge will help them not one whit. If their belief rests in man's wisdom and not in God's power, they are merely excited in their soul. - Watchman Nee
