No Compromise

Nahash the Ammonite replied, “I’ll make one with you on this condition: that I gouge out everyone’s right eye and humiliate all Israel.” - 1 Samuel 11:2

What price are you willing to pay to arrive at "peace?" What treaties or compromises will you accept in order to avoid conflict? It seems that everyone wants to make a deal these days (particularly, politicians), but those of us who stand for biblical principles are always on the losing end. All too often, little compromises have blossomed into all-out capitulation as the social debates have frequently degenerated into harsh, mean-spirited, unproductive rhetoric.
Those who have grown tired of this tense, venomous atmosphere have opted to either give-in, give-up, or play the proverbial ostrich in hopes that somehow ignorance will produce bliss. Fact is, as Samuel learned with the Ammonites, there is just no compromising with evil. Any treaty we make with it will only leave us half-blind, weakened, and exposed to further humiliation and defeat. The only way to conquer evil is through a humble, loving, firm resolve coupled with a commitment to unyielding truth.
Surrender to Christ is the only path to peace. Surrendering to evil is a sure path to destruction.
The full acting out of the self's surrender to God therefore demands pain: this action, to be perfect, must be done from the pure will to obey, in the absence, or in the teeth, of inclination. - C. S. Lewis
