Pharaoh responded, "I will let you go and sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness, but don't go very far. Make an appeal for me." - Exodus 8:28

Although Pharoah was hardened in his understanding and did not know God, his attitudes and actions mirror those of some within the church today.

After the fourth plague upon his people, Pharoah agreed to let Moses (and all Israel) leave Egypt, sort of. They could go, just as long as they didn't go very far. The Egyptian leader knew that though he did not personally believe in the God of Israel, Moses did and he needed Israel's leader to intercede on his behalf.

Many claim to know the power of God, but stop short of full submission to His purposes. They understand the power of prayer, but rather than pray they ask others to pray for them. God expects nothing less than total submission and surrender from those who claim to follow His Son. We must come to Him on bended knee or we simply have not come at all.

All the appeals that others might make cannot change the outcome, if we refuse.

When love is real, joy flows freely. - Kevin Harney
