So we have the prophetic word strongly confirmed. You will do well to pay attention to it, as to a lamp shining in a dismal place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. - 2 Peter 1:19

Which one of us, if it was within their power to make the lame walk or the blind to see, would refuse to do so? Which one of us, if it was within their power to rescue someone from a burning building or save someone from drowning, would not do it? Which one of us would refuse to lend a helping hand around or over an obstacle in the path of a friend or companion?
None of us would be so uncaring, you say? Why is it then that we who possess eternal life and the "prophetic word strongly confirmed" refuse to share it with most everyone we meet? Why, in a day when few seem to speak God's truth, do we remain silent?
Perhaps it is because, distracted by overwhelming technology, we rarely pay attention to anyone or anything, but ourselves. It seems that for many life is just one, all-encompassing "selfie."
God, harden me against myself! - Amy Carmichael
