Still Good

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There is still one man who can ask Yahweh, but I hate him because he never prophesies good about me, but only disaster. He is Micaiah son of Imlah." "The king shouldn't say that," Jehoshaphat replied. - 2 Chronicles 18:7

The king of Israel (Ahab) didn't find peace or comfort in the words of a true prophet of God. In fact, he said that he hated God's spokesman, because he just never seemed to have anything good to say about the king's future. In retaliation, the king surrounded himself with "yes-men" and "ear-ticklers" and went on his merry, ignorant, unrepentant way.
Let me give you a little piece of advice for your life's journey.
You might have a problem with your life if God's good news always seems bad to you, but you have a greater problem if you are ignoring God's truth and its messenger just so you can feel better about yourself. The person who runs from the truth will never escape it. He (or she) simply deepens the effect of the ultimate consequences of his (or her) error.
If you are blessed to ever find yourself within earshot of a truth-messenger (like a biblical expositor), please understand that marginalizing his message is not the path to spiritual transformation. It is rather the path to spiritual destruction.
God's Word may not always "feel" good, but it is still good for you.
The wish for healing has always been half of health. - Lucius Annaeus Seneca
