And all the people took notice of it, and it pleased them: As whatsoever the king did pleased all the people. - 2 Samuel 3:36

David was an anointed and gifted leader of Israel and his decisions often revealed a heart after God paired with an intellect for leadership. When David's military leader (Joab) murdered Abner (Saul's former commander), David could have rejoiced. Instead, as king, he publicly grieved. This was both heartfelt and wise. The other eleven tribes of Israel respected Abner and would have been angered by his demise at the hands of Joab. The situation was critical and intense, yet David handled it all masterfully.

Great leadership, at a time when our nation is looking for leaders, is not only seen in the defeat of our enemies; it is also manifested in gracious victory.

In this life, you will win some and lose some. When we win, let's be sure to "win" well.

God formed us; sin deformed us; Christ transforms us. - Daily Bread
