... so that you can remember the words previously spoken by the holy prophets, and the commandment of our Lord and Savior [given] through your apostles. - 2 Peter 3:2

I have heard that some actors and actresses fight to have their names appear in the same size and style of font as the lead in advertisements for their shows. They all want "top billing" or, at least, "equal billing" in order to advance their careers.

In the context of the verse above, Peter gave the words of the holy prophets (God's Old Testament spokesmen) and the words of the apostles (God's New Testament leaders) "equal billing."  Obviously, Peter did this because he was convinced that the words of both were equally authoritative and inspired. All such messages (narratives, letters, gospels, etc.), therefore, are worthy of remembrance and applicable (in the proper context) for the person who intends to live a victorious, obedient Christian life. All Scripture is God-breathed and therefore all Scripture is profitable.

If God has blessed you by making the Bible available, I suggest you make yourself available to it as well.

Don't yield to Satan's lie that you don't have time to study the scriptures. Choose to take time to study them. Feasting on the word of God each day is more important than sleep, school, work, television shows, video games, or social media. You may need to reorganize your priorities to provide time for the study of the word of God. If so, do it! - Richard G. Scott
