YHWH said to Abram, "Go out from your land, your relatives, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you." – Genesis 12:1

You have probably heard the old saying, "God afflicts the comfortable and comforts the afflicted."

Well, Abram (who would become “Abraham”) was comfortable in his hometown with all his riches and family, but God had a plan for his life and in order to accomplish it, Abram would have to move. God's plan required Abram's obedience and in order for Abram to obey, he had to "go."

God has a plan for the "peoples" of this world, but His plan requires the obedience of Jesus’ followers. There are still thousands of people groups that have no believers living among them, intentionally making disciples. Some of Christ's followers will need to stay at home, but many others will have to leave the comfort of home, even now, to learn a new culture and language in order for that culture and language to know Christ's redemptive plan.

Is the Father speaking to you? Is He "afflicting your comfort?" Is it time for you to be "going?"
