Still Here?

We proclaim Him, admonishing every person and teaching every person with all wisdom, so that we may present every person complete in Christ. – Colossians 1:28

Ever wonder why you're still around?
On more than one occasion, Paul must have asked himself the same question. Ultimately, the Apostle concluded that to continue living was manifest Christ in the world and to die was to gain all that eternal life with that same Christ in heavenly glory. In other words, if we get to stick around in this earthly existence, we do it all for Jesus.
While each of us has a voice with which to speak and a life with which to back it up, we must proclaim Christ and Christ alone with the time we have been given. As His followers, we have been given a sacred trust. Like the death row prisoner who has received a last second pardon, we now should make the most of the gracious opportunity we have received and honor the One who made that pardon possible. We should let our “world” know the character of our Redeemer.
Beyond the proclamation that our forgiveness warrants, we must also warn (admonish) and instruct (teach) others, using our own personal story of redemption as the basis, in how to grow into the complete representation of the amazing Son of God who saves.
Still here? Now you know why.
Take heed that you faithfully perform the business you have to do in the world, from a regard to the commands of God; and not from an ambitious desire of being esteemed better than others. – David Brainerd
